These terms cover use of the Imposter Game Generator. By using the site you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the site.

The game

The site gives you a free way to deal an imposter word game on one device. It is provided as-is for entertainment and classroom use. We do not promise that it will be available all the time, that a particular word list will suit every age, or that a round will be free of a repeated word if a custom list is very short. You are responsible for the house rules you agree at the table, including how a vote works and what the imposters have to do to win.

Acceptable use

Do not use the site to break the law, to harass someone, or to collect personal data from other people without a proper basis. Do not try to interfere with the hosting, probe it for weaknesses, or pass the site off as an official product of a publisher or broadcaster. Custom words are yours. Do not enter anything unlawful, or anything you do not have the right to use.

No affiliation

The social-deduction format, where one or more players do not know the secret, is a folk game. This generator is independent. It is not endorsed by, or connected with, any boxed party game, app or television format that uses a similar name. The built-in lists use generic words on purpose.

Your content and ours

The text, word lists, layout and code of this site are ours, except where a right belongs to someone else. You may play the game, quote a short extract with a credit, and use the lists at a table. You may not copy the site and present it as your own product. Names and custom lists you type stay on your device; you keep whatever rights you already had in them. You are responsible for them.

Advertising and links

The site may later show advertising or affiliate links, including Google AdSense and Amazon Associates. If that happens, it will be disclosed, and non-essential storage will follow the privacy policy. Nothing on the site is an affiliate link at the moment. We are not responsible for the contents of a third-party site you open from a future link.

Liability

The game is free. To the extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties and we are not liable for loss of profits, loss of data on your device, or indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the site. We do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot legally be excluded. If you use the game in a classroom or at a party, you remain responsible for the people in the room.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that you may also have consumer rights to bring a claim in the part of the UK where you live.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top will change when we do. Continuing to use the site after an update means you accept the new terms. The privacy information is separate and lives on the privacy policy page.
